Ban Tai

Ban Tai beaches are sometimes mistakenly attached to Bang Por. But we think they are worthy of being told about separately.

Ban Tai beaches are one of the few “secret” places on the island, of which tourists know so little. They are situated rather far from the main road and if you want to find them you should know where to start looking first.

On the east of Bang Por  you will find a rocky cape, right after that a true jewel of Koh Samui is situated – a small lagoon (about 250 meters length) with perfectly clear water and fine sand. You might find a few rocks while entering the water, but the rest of the shore is covered with soft and fine sand.

If you swim a little far from the coast you’ll see corrals and small fish. You may also encounter a few turtles and stingrays. Thanks to the big angle of the coast line to the west, you will be able to see the sunsets much better from here than from Bang Por.

On the very coast of this lagoon you will find some tacky bungalows (though mostly unavailable ) and a very decent café. A little farther one will find Hanalei Gardens, a popular resort which can offer you one or two bedroom houses with kitchens. Deeper to the island you will see villas Baan Tropicana, which belong to our friend John.
Traveling farther along the coast and crossing the river you will get to the beach near Napasai hotel, known for its luxurious bungalows and for its own programs of rejuvenation and relaxation.
Total length of Ban Tai beaches is 2 km.

There is a big variety of houses for rent and most of them are situated between the ring road and the coast line.

Ban Tai district is situated close to Maenam village with its shops, markets and restaurants, but that doesn’t deprive it of its solitude and originality while making it a perfect place for a peaceful relaxing rest.
