Transfer between Bangkok airports - Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi

After AirAsia has moved in October 1, 2012 from Suvarnabhumi airport (BKK) to Don Muang airport (DMK), in terminal number 1, following some other airlines, including Nok Air, travelers started asking themselves: How to get quickly from one airport to another? In the article below we will give all the options and opinions on how to travel between these two airports in Bangkok.

There are more than 45 kilometers between the airports Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang including the city with its high density traffic. Therefore, the trip can take from 45 minutes and up to 1.5 - 2 hours.
The official AirAsia representative recommends having at least 3 hours of extra time for traveling between those two spots. The cost of such trip, if we use the taxi services at the official taxi stand in Suvarnabhumi, will be around 700 baht.

Free shuttle bus
Buses run from 5-00 to 24-00, but the schedule itself is not very clear. Apparently, it changes frequently, so we even managed to find a few versions of it. Buses run often enough so the schedule is not that important.

Also, there is a schedule on the official site:

Minivans

Minibuses number 555 (and / or 554) (Suvarnabhumi - Don Muaeng) run from 03.30 to 22.00.

The route fare: - 45 baht from 5.00 to 15.00, - 50 baht from 15.00 to 5.00. Departure - every 20 minutes (from 16.00 to 18.00 - every 5 minutes) from the passenger platform at the arrival on the 1st floor, near exits 1 and 8.

Taxi
After the military came to power (in May 2014) Suvarnabhumi airport began improving the taxi services. Now the taxi queue is said to be computerized, all taxis must go by the meter and the cost of traveling from the airport should be exactly 50 baht higher than any similar trip in the city (fixed 35 baht and after that according to the meter).
Toll roads payment is up to the passenger. We recommend using them in the case of limited time between flights. Taxi boarding spot in Suvarnabhumi is at the passenger platform at the arrival zone on the 1st floor, near exits 4 and 7.

Combined routes
These routes include traveling on the metro, buses and trains (500 meters from Don Muang there is a railway station) but we do not recommend using them because they can be time consuming, especially when you have limited time and lots of baggage.
