Queen's Cup Samui 2014

Queen's Cup Samui 2014

Sixth annual Queens Cup golf tournament in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit (Queen's Cup Bangkok Airways - SAT Samui Golf Tournament) will be held on Samui from 5th to 8th of June 2014.

The organizers of the event are Bangkok Airways in cooperation with the Office of Sports of Thailand, Asian Tour and PGA Thailand.
The total prize fund - 300 000 USD.

The tournament is usually broadcasted live by TRUE SPORT, and its best moments are repeated within Asian Tour reports through international TV channels.

The competition venue will be the best golf club on Koh Samui, and one of the best in Thailand, and, perhaps, throughout the region Santiburi Samui Country Club, which is located on the slopes of the picturesque area of Maenam.

Prayad Marksaeng, the winner of the last year's King's Cup, unfortunately, will not be able to defend his title this year, as he has been chosen to take part in the Japan Gold Tour's PGA Championship Nissan Cup, which will be held the same week. Players Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat also will not be able to participate..

Queen's Cup in Samui will be the second stage of the Asian Tour in Thailand this year. The first was the King’s Cup in January won by Prayad Marksaeng. The third stage will be held in Chiang Mai from 3rd to 6th of July (Chiangmai Golf Classic), with the prize fund of U.S. $ 750,000.

Traditionally, on the day before the competition starts, any one can come to test their skills in golf. Golf tournaments held on Samui in recent years have drawn a lot of attention of professionals and spectators reffering to the island as a place attractive for golf tourism.

And that is how it was the last year
