Welcome to The Spa Resorts, Thailand

The Spa Resort on Koh Samui Island (founded in 1992) was the first Health Destination Resort in Thailand. We have Health Destination Resorts on Koh Samui, Koh Chang, and our latest flagship resort (The Spa Resort Chiang Mai) overlooking idyllic rice paddies adjacent to a rural Thai Village in Northern Thailand.

We have developed and perfected specialized programs in Cleansing Detox, Weight Loss, Yoga, Meditation, and have Massage, Vegetarian, Vegan and, Raw foods. Our unique Detox Retreats, Yoga Retreats and Raw Food classes are all part of our “Five Habit System to Longevity”.

At The Spa Resorts, our endless pursuit is to help our guests learn more about taking better care of themselves. Guests learn to cleanse the body with Cleansing Detox, proper eating habits (raw food classes), appropriate exercise (Yoga), plus proper breathing (Yoga) and relaxing (Meditation).

At our Spa Resort in Chiang Mai, we now offer Yoga Retreats and Detox Retreats PLUS Boot Camp Weight Loss Retreats.

Our world famous Radiance Restaurants have the best Vegetarian, Vegan, & Raw Foods in Thailand. We enjoy the honor of having been selected as “one of the top 50 restaurants in the world” by Restaurant Magazine and one of the “Ten Top Nutritionally focused Resorts in Asia” by SpaAsia Magazine. Our restaurants serve organic produce from our very own organic farm in Chiang Mai.

At The Spa Resorts, we provide insights and tools for optimal health. We encourage our guests to feel better and healthier by using a simple system of healthy habits. We call it the Five-Habit System to Longevity. With Cleansing Detox, Yoga Classes, Raw Food Classes, daily free Meditation classes.

The Five Habits to Longevity

CLEANSING

The habit of doing periodic Detox cleansing fasts - This is a routine derived from ancient Taoist Chinese teachings that can add years to life. Daily fasting with detoxifier drinks, herbal supplements and internal tissue cleansing enemas daily. Our approach is based on the science and practice of fasting developed in the USA by internationally respected fasting authorities.

BREATHING

The habit of correct breathing - Just three times a day, is all it takes to give you all the reserve energy you need. Will be in your Yoga practice.

FOOD COMBINING

The habit of eating the right foods at the right times - We will give you recommendations for a healthy diet, that you can easily master. Raw Food Classes.

EXERCISE

The habit of exercise - Develop a one-hour daily exercise routine. Join our Yoga classes or go on a privately guided hike or bike ride.

MEDITATION & PEACEFULNESS

The habit of a peaceful mind - Reserve two daily periods for meditation or just peaceful contemplation, about 20-30 minutes each. You will turn off the chatter in your head, and give your mind a rest. Join our daily free meditation classes, at the resort or at the local wat (temple).

The Founders

Guy & Toi Hopkins met in 1987 and embarked on a journey of health and wellness together. Guy is from California in the USA. Toi is from the Esan region of North-eastern Thailand.

Early on Guy was perplexed by the lack of information on how to best live a healthy life. What would it take to make us all feel healthy and happy? Is there a way to great health and longevity?

After studying at the Redwood College of Holistic Health in California in 1980, Guy decided to create a destination spa location in Thailand – combining the best of Asian massage principles (Toi has a family-lineage of traditional Thai massage expertise), Buddhist philosophy and newly learned health regimens.

The Spa Resorts opened on May 15th, 1992 on Koh Samui. Today, The Spa Resorts are in four locations: Samui Beach, Samui Village, Koh Chang and its’ flagship location is in the rolling hills of rural Chiang Mai.

Over the years, The Spa Resorts have been blessed with a loyal clientele, guests with compelling backgrounds from all over the world, creating a wonderful community.

About Thailand

Thailand is a gateway to southeast Asia. A population of approx. 65 million with lovely people mostly Buddhist. A hot climate mostly year round with temperatures rarely going over 30-35c/85-95f. The Northern part of Thailand, Chiang Mai, has a much cooler temperature especially in December and January, as low as 10c.

Travel & Leisure Magazine, which caters to the luxury travel market, has released its 2010 "World's Best Cities" list, with Bangkok voted by readers as the top city in the world, followed by Chiang Mai. The votes were based on: 1. Places for sightseeing, their beauty and greenery; 2. Arts and culture; 3. Food; 4. Shopping areas; 5. People's friendliness; 6. Value for money spent.

Political History

The word "Thai" means "free", and therefore "Thailand" means, "Land of the Free." Thailand is remarkably safe for foreigners. Thailand has been a Constitutional monarchy since 1945. Despite its spirited political climate Thailand continues to grow even in times of turmoil. While there has been a long history of power struggle amongst people and politics, the Thais are happy people. The country’s systems work and business goes on.

Lovely People

Thailand is famous for its lovely people. These friendly souls exhibit loving kindness radiating from their Buddhist beliefs. The Thais are hospitable and gracious, making Thailand a perfect place to visit and live.

Culture

Thailand has been shaped by the Buddhist tradition for thousands of years. At the center of every village lies the Buddhist temple. The temples of Thailand serve as village main stays for celebrations, elections and gatherings.Thailand has a distinctive architectural heritage contributing to a vibrant design experience from temples to homes to public buildings.
